 UNIUYO SUG assures students of automatic  NELFUND refund process for the 2025/2026 academic session will be executed successfully without requiring students to submit any manual applications. This crucial update was shared via an official press release by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the University of Uyo Students’ Union Government (UNIUYO SUG). The institution’s ICT Unit is working with the Bursary Department to verify beneficiary details straight from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) portal. This proactive automation aims to ease student worries amid nationwide scrutiny regarding delayed tuition reimbursements across various Nigerian institutions. 

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Students’ Union, University of Uyo, has announced that students who benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2025/2026 academic session are not required to submit any refund application at this time.

According to a press release dated July 13, 2026, the University’s ICT Unit is currently verifying eligible beneficiaries’ information directly from the NELFUND portal in collaboration with the Bursary Department. Once the verification process is completed, refunds will be paid automatically to eligible students.

The Students’ Union urged beneficiaries to remain calm, assuring them that the refund process is expected to be concluded within this week or, at the latest, next week.

The directive applies only to 2025/2026 NELFUND beneficiaries. Students from previous academic sessions who are still awaiting refunds are advised to continue with the existing refund application process as applicable. The announcement comes amid increased attention on delayed NELFUND refunds across several Nigerian tertiary institutions.
