Melajoom Foundation Scholarship 2026: Eligibility, Benefits and How to Apply
The Melajoom Foundation has opened applications for its 2026 Tertiary Scholarship Program, which provides financial support to undergraduate students from Owo Local Government Area who have strong academic records and face financial barriers to higher education.
The scholarship is open to eligible full-time undergraduate students enrolled in accredited Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. Applicants must be indigenes of Owo Local Government Area.
University students may receive up to N250,000, while Polytechnic and College of Education students may receive up to N125,000.

Who Can Apply for the Melajoom Foundation Scholarship?
The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in an accredited Nigerian university, polytechnic or college of education.
Every applicant must also be an indigene of Owo Local Government Area and provide a valid Certificate of Local Government Origin.
Final-year students are eligible to apply.
Students who already receive another scholarship or bursary may also submit an application, but they must disclose that support on the application form.
How Much Is the Melajoom Foundation Scholarship?
The award amount depends on the type of school attended by the applicant.
- University students: Up to N250,000
- Polytechnic students: Up to N125,000
- College of Education students: Up to N125,000
These amounts are the maximum awards stated for the 2026 scholarship programme.
What Are the Academic Requirements?
The academic requirement depends on the applicant’s current level of study.
100-Level Students
Freshers at 100 level must have a minimum JAMB score of 250.
The JAMB score is the stated academic benchmark for this group.
Students at 200 Level and Above
Continuing students from 200 level upward must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
Final-year students remain eligible provided they meet the applicable requirements.
What Documents Are Required for the Scholarship?
Every applicant must provide the general documents required by the Foundation.
These are:
- Certificate of Local Government Origin
- Reference Letter from the Owo LGA Office, dated within the last 24 months
- Original Academic Goals Essay

What Is the Scholarship Essay Question for 100-Level Applicants?
A 100-level applicant must write an original Academic Goals Essay explaining the reason for choosing the course of study and how the degree will be used to make an impact in the applicant’s community or field.
The essay must be no more than 200 words.
Applicants should answer the stated question within that word limit.
What Is the Essay Question for Students at 200 Level and Above?
Applicants from 200 level upward must write about their most notable academic achievement or challenge and explain how they have maintained their academic performance.
The maximum length is 300 words.
The essay must be the applicant’s original work.
Can AI Be Used to Write the Scholarship Essay?
The Melajoom Foundation has stated that it has a strict policy against AI-generated content in scholarship essays.
Plagiarised essays are also prohibited. Applications containing false or misleading information will be disqualified.
Applicants are therefore required to submit their own original essay and provide accurate information throughout the form.
Can an Application Be Saved and Completed Later?
No. The application form does not allow applicants to save their progress and return later.
The entire application must be completed in one session.
