GOMSU approves promotion of new Professors and Reader following the successful conclusion of external academic assessments. The Governing Council of Gombe State University (GSU) announced the elevations in a Special Bulletin issued on Monday, 29th June 2026. The promotional updates, which officially took effect retroactively from 1st October 2025, highlight the university’s commitment to rewarding academic excellence and research advancement across multiple departments
The Governing Council of Gombe State University (GSU) has officially announced the promotion of several academic staff members to the ranks of Professor and Reader.
According to a Special Bulletin (Volume 002 No. 009) issued by the institution on Monday, 29th June, 2026, the promotions follow favorable external assessment reports.
The council approved the elevation of five (5) Readers to the rank of Professor and one (1) Senior Lecturer to the rank of Reader. (Note: While the bulletin text states five Readers were promoted to Professor, the subsequent official list details six newly appointed Professors).
All promotions are retroactively effective from 1st October 2025. The official announcement was signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer.
