Insider Reveals Offseason Plan For Red Sox If They Don’t Sign Juan Soto

The Boston Red Sox have nine World Series titles in franchise history, but they missed the postseason for the third straight season in 2024 after finishing with a record of 81-81.

In one of the best divisions in all of Major League Baseball, the Red Sox will need to be aggressive this offseason to keep pace with the New York Yankees and company.

The MLB offseason thus far has been focused on free agent Yankees player Juan Soto who has yet to make his decision on where he will play in 2025.

While the Red Sox are one of the teams involved in talks with Soto, MLB Insider Mark Feinsand revealed the team’s plan if they do not sign Soto.

According to Feinsand on ‘X,’ the Red Sox intend to pursue free agent Teoscar Hernandez if they don’t sign Soto.

Soto is the top free agent in this year’s free agent class, and rightly so.

In his first year with the Yankees in 2024, Soto batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and a .989 OPS.

With several MLB teams reportedly in talks with Soto including the Red Sox, Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays, the Red Sox have a lot of competition for the all-star outfielder.

The Red Sox could also pursue free-agent outfielder Anthony Santander from the Orioles, but Feinsand reports that the team prefers Hernandez.

It will be interesting to see how things play out once Soto makes his decision this offseason.
