Full List of Approved Universities for Law Programme in Nigeria 2026

Law programme in Nigeria routes are very competitive, and picking a university without checking its registration status is a huge risk. Imagine spending years studying law only to find out your school is banned or doesn’t have the proper license. That mistake can completely ruin your dreams of becoming a lawyer.

To protect students, the Council of Legal Education regularly checks schools across the country to make sure they follow the rules.

In this guide, we will show you the official list of universities allowed to teach law this year. We will also point out the schools that are currently banned from taking new students so you can stay safe.

Why You Must Check the Law Programme in Nigeria List Before Applying

Only universities accredited by the Council of Legal Education are authorised to admit students into the LL.B programme in Nigeria.

Any university that admits students into a Law programme without approval from the Council of Legal Education acts against the provisions that regulate legal education and such university will be subject to sanctions under existing regulations and policy.

What happens if a student enters an unapproved Law programme?

A student admitted into a Law programme at a university that is not accredited by the Council of Legal Education will not be eligible for admission into the Nigerian Law School.

This is a direct admission risk and candidates should verify the approved list before choosing Law through UTME, Direct Entry or any internal admission route.
